阳明者，手足属阳明经之末，起于鼻，上关舌本；其支者，绕口入唇，上挟齿，其支者又从会厌上系舌本，络上关；其别者，上挟齿，至目系角膜下贯结膜，上目系。《素问·刺腰痛论》曰：“太阳调冬，中焦通阳明，阳明者，腸也。”今入太阳经者，名曰阳明针也。

《灵枢·九针十二原》曰：“为阳明者，太阳也；为太阳者，阳明也。”阳明者，手足属阳明经之末，起于鼻，上关舌本；其支者，绕口入唇，上挟齿，其支者又从会厌上系舌本，络上关；其别者，上挟齿，至目系角膜下贯结膜，上目系。”今针入此经者，名曰太阳针也。
《素问·刺腰痛论》曰：“太阳调冬，中焦通阳明，阳明者，腸也。”今入太阳经者，名曰阳明针也。
The Nine Needles and Twelve Yuan of the Ling Shu states, "For the Yang Ming channel, it is the Taiwan channel; for the Tai Yang channel, it is the Yang Ming channel." The Yang Ming channel belongs to the hands and feet, whose end starts from the nose and goes up to the root of the tongue. Its branches run around the mouth and go into the lip, then up along with teeth. Its other branches go up from the hyoid bone to attach to the root of the tongue, forming a network at the root of the tongue. Its separate branch goes up along with the teeth, penetrates the lower part of the conjunctiva, and attaches to the upper end of the eyeball. If the needle is inserted into this channel, it is called Tai Yang Needle.
In the Treatise on the Causes and Symptoms of Diseases, there is a saying, "Taiyang governs winter, and the Yangming connects the middle and upper Burners. Yangming is the intestines." If the needle is inserted into the Taiyang channel, it is called Yangming Needle.
